With a succession of animal hoarding cases, LA City Animal Shelters have reached capacity. This means that hundreds of animals have been put on the red list to be euthanized in the event that they cannot be quickly placed in adoptive homes, foster homes, or rescues.
All six locations of LA City Animal Shelters were nearly full already, a situation which became more urgent with the addition of hundreds of dogs, cats, and rabbits.

In an effort to get animals off of the euthanasia list and into homes, the shelter reduced adoptions fees over the weekend. This resulted in more than 300 animals being adopted! With this success, the shelters announced that they will again be offering reduced adoptions fees this coming weekend (August 11 and 12) at all six locations:
Los Angeles Department of Animal Services
- East Valley Animal Shelter
- LA Harbor Shelter
- North Central Shelter
- South LA Animal Shelter
- West Los Angeles Shelter
- West Valley Animal Shelter

If you aren’t able to adopt a pet, please consider fostering, volunteering at a shelter, or making a donation. There are many ways that you can help save the life of a homeless animal.
